Richter van Tonder ably assisted by Marcia hosted a most successful outing to Club Ranch, a hunting farm in the winter months, is situated slightly northwest of Alldays on the Limpopo bordering Botswana to the north; most successful from the birds, and for some lifers, that were seen but a little disappointing from the participation point of view. Six club members, Lynette, Hilde, Dudley, Deo, Perril and Peter plus the hosts were lucky enough to see the elusive Pel's Fishing Owl, a lifer for Lynnette, Hilde, Deo, Perril and Peter.
The three youngsters, Deo, Perril and Peter left early and missed seeing the Kori Bustard on the way out which was also an exciting find. Richter simultaneously did a little Atlassing and in Pentad viewed 102 species, a record for the Pentad.
The list of species seen is available for anyone interested but because of space is not being listed here; nevertheless those more interesting were two more owls, Scops and Pearl Spotted, three eagles, Martial, Fish & African Hawk-Eagle, plus Meyer's Parrot, Namaqua Dove, Red-billed Hornbill, Goliath Heron, two Woodpeckers and many water birds.
Thanks go to the hosts for a most interesting and successful day.
